Sad. Understandable, especially in the American birth climate. If I thought my only option was to be cut open again, I'd think twice about conceiving again. Thank goodness I didn't fallen prey to that falshood. (Or at least it is a lie for MOST women who would otherwise choose vaginal birth... even after... gasp... a cesarean...)

What is also sad is that VBACing isn't easy, you usually have to work your butt off to have a VBAC. Moms who have truly necessary cesareans usually have very little problem VBACing, the rest of us have to get over the "does my body really work" demons, and it isn't easy!

Warning, somewhat graphic/controversial.

I know this may sound like a crazy notion. But I had a dream one time, where a mother (me) had a very, how shall I put it, violent cesarean. And when it was all said and done, the nurse attending me said "so do you plan on having any more babies NOW??" - as if I were being punished.

Could've had something to do with that being the very words coming out of the nurses' mouth after my son was born (hospital, vaginal, after MUCH unecessary intervention narrowly escaping cesarean).

I feel this is indeed a scare tactic used to slow the population.

Maybe I'm too fringe-thinking, but that's what I believe.

"Scare them into sterility."

I just found your blog yesterday, and I started at the beginning and have been reading through. THIS is exactly where I am right now. I had a cesarean last September, and it wasn't necessary. I was pretty sure of that before I found your blog, but now I am convinced. The thing is, I DON'T want to have another baby if I have to have a cesarean!

I am not currently pregnant, but I hope to be in the next year or so. Right now I have to focus on educating my husband so that he is completely supportive!

Erin,
It is great that you are starting to prepare now. Have you seen the Business of Being Born yet (perhaps watch it with your husband)? I definitely recommend that as a good place to start. It is definitely a journey but a road worth traveling.
Good luck!
Kat
